Well Done!

Pastor Jack Hibbs
Sept 1 2013
Harvest OC

Mark 7:31-37 (NKJV)
Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee. [32] Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. [33] And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. [34] Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened." [35] Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. [36] Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. [37] And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."

If a religion does not claim Jesus as God then it is a cult.

1. Appointments for our lives. God does not act on your time frame.

God saves you and you are to yield to his workings

2. Announce to Jesus well done.

Mark 7:32 (NKJV)
Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him.

Helen Keller - lost her abilities, like this man in Mark 7.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV)
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV)

The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

It is Finished!

Notes: It is Finished
Pastor Greg Laurie
Matthew 27
Harvest OC

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV)
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

God completes whatever he starts.

Seven statements at the cross.
1. Father forgive them they know not what they do.

2. Today you will be with Me in paradise.

3. Woman behold your son. Son behold your mother.

4. Matthew 27:46 (NKJV)
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

5. I thirst.

6. It is finished.

7. Into your hands I commit my spirit.

"God treated Jesus as if he had lived your life, so He could treat you as if you had lived his life."

Jesus never did a miracle for his own benefit.

Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man.

It is great to know we have a God that knows what we are going through.

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Jesus does not focus on his pain, but on the pain of others.

"Don't waste your pain."

2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NKJV)
For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. [9] Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NKJV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. [5] For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

It is finished is one Greek word, Tetelestai.

He finished the job that He came to do.

2. Finished was satan's stronghold on humanity Hebrews 2:14 (NKJV)
Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

3. Finished was our salvation

Statement 7. Into Your hands I commit My Spirit.

Matthew 27:51-54 (NKJV)
Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, [52] and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; [53] and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. [54] So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

Hebrews 10:19-20 (NKJV)
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, [20] by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Because of the death of Jesus I can approach God at any time.

Matthew 27:51 (NKJV)
Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

Mortal enemies can become friends at the foot of the cross.

Luke 23:48 (NKJV)
And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.

Isaiah 45:22 (NKJV)
" Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

1. Jesus suffered and died to show his love for us.
Ephesians 5:25 (NKJV)
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

John 3:16 (NKJV)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

2. Jesus suffered and died to absorb the wrath of God.

3. To cancel the legal demands against us.

Colossians 2:13-14 (NKJV)
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, [14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

4. Also to provide our forgiveness and justification

Romans 5:9 (NKJV)

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Getting Started Week 2

Getting Started Chapter 2
Matthew 16:18 (NLT)
Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer.

Colossians 1:18 (NLT)
Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.

Ephesians 1:22-23 (NLT)
God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. [23] And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.

Ephesians 5:29-30 (NLT)
No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. [30] And we are members of his body.

Acts 2:1-4 (NLT)
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. [2] Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. [3] Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. [4] And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Acts 2:42-47 (NLT)
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. [43] A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. [44] And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. [45] They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. [46] They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity- [47] all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Ephesians 4:11-16 (NLT)
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. [12] Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. [13] This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. [14] Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. [15] Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. [16] He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Points passages:
1. We come to church to be equipped.
2. We come to church to be built up and to build up other.
3. We come for unity and fellowship with brethren.
4. We come to church to serve God.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. [25] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

1 Corinthians 12:24-26 (NLT)
while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. [25] This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. [26] If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.

Romans 12:4-8 (NLT)
Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, [5] so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. [6] In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. [7] If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. [8] If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
