The greatest ability is dependability.
Finishing well.
Grow in love.
1 Corinthians 13:2 ESV
[2] And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1 John 3:18 NKJV
[18] My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:14 NKJV
[14] We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
Romans 12:9-12 NKJV
[9] Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. [10] Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; [11] not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; [12] rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
1. Our Love Should Be Real, Not Fake.
Romans 12:9 NKJV
[9] Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Do loving things if you like it or not. Your emotions can catch up to you.
Judas Iscariot is a clear example of loving with hypocrisy.
2. If I love what God loves, I will in turn, hate what God hates.
Psalm 97:10 NKJV
[10] You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Be horrified by evil. We should hate evil.
3. If you really love God and others, you will be glued to what is good.
Cling to what is good.
Romans 12:9 NKJV
[9] Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
“The expulsive power of a new affection.” - Thomas Chalmers
Meditate in God’s word day and night.
4. If we really love God and others, we will love our Christian Family.
John 13:35 NKJV
[35] By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
5. If we really love God and others, we will not be slackers. “Not lagging in diligence.”
Romans 12:11 NKJV
[11] not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
What ever we do for Christ, must be done with intensity, enthusiasm, passion and excellence.
There is no room for doing the bare minimum.
6. If we really love God and others, we will be on fire for Christ!
Keep your heart burning by being in the word.
Would someone else describe you as being on fire for Christ?
No one is forcing you to serve, but if you are on fire you will serve.
If you want to serve God, you will be attacked.
Romans 12:12 NKJV
[12] rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
This could be translated, “devoted to prayer.”
Our church needs your prayer.
