Angels are spoken about all through the Bible. They are spoken about
more often in the New Testament them agape love.
"Do not fear because the Angels are here"
Psalm 91:11-12 NLT
[11] For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
[12] They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on
a stone.
This is a promise to all believers in the world.
We live in a physical world, but beyond the physical world is an
invisible spiritual wold.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT
[18] So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix
our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be
gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
All around us is divine activity. Heaven is a real place and it is
also a dimension. The eternal world is much closer than we think.
Elisha prayed to God that He would open Elisha's servant's eyes to
see, God did...it was an eye opening experience. Elisha and his servant saw the
angels there.
The best reason to look for angels is to see God. Angels are always
there for the purposes of God. These are Angel beings doing God's work.
Three points today:
1. Angels are worshippers.
They are there to worship God. They are never to be worshipped.
Just like them, we are only to worship God.
Isaiah 6:2-8 NLT
[2] Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With
two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with
two they flew. [3] They were calling out to each other, "Holy, holy, holy
is the LORD of Heaven's Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!"
[4] Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building
was filled with smoke. [5] Then I said, "It's all over! I am doomed, for I
am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy
lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies." [6] Then one
of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with
a pair of tongs. [7] He touched my lips with it and said, "See, this coal
has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are
forgiven." [8] Then I heard the Lord asking, "Whom should I send as a
messenger to this people? Who will go for us?" I said, "Here I am.
Send me."
The Angels are there worshipping:
Isaiah 6:3 NLT
[3] They were calling out to each other, "Holy, holy, holy is
the LORD of Heaven's Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!"
Angels watch us worship. What do they see when they watch you worship?
Angels are created by God...humans will never become angels.
Colossians 1:16 NLT
[16] for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms
and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see- such
as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything
was created through him and for him.
God created them for Himself.
Psalm 148:2 NLT
[2] Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of
heaven!
Job 38:4-7 NLT
[4] "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell me, if you know so much. [5] Who determined its dimensions and stretched
out the surveying line? [6] What supports its foundations, and who laid its
cornerstone [7] as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted
for joy?
We don't know how many angels there are.
2. Angels are witnesses.
An angel is a messenger. They deliver important messages to
individuals and sometimes to groups.
Pastor Jack said Harvest is known as a highly evangelistic church.
Angels do not share the Gospel. We have to declare the witness of
Christ.
3. Angels are warriors.
The Bible does not confirm that we have a guardian angel, but it
does confirm that we have an angel guard.
Angels are warriors fighting on our behalf in spiritual battles.
Daniel 10:9-21 NLT
[9] Then I heard the man speak, and when I heard the sound of his
voice, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground. [10] Just then a
hand touched me and lifted me, still trembling, to my hands and knees. [11] And
the man said to me, "Daniel, you are very precious to God, so listen
carefully to what I have to say to you. Stand up, for I have been sent to
you." When he said this to me, I stood up, still trembling. [12] Then he
said, "Don't be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for
understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been
heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. [13] But for twenty-one
days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael,
one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit
prince of the kingdom of Persia. [14] Now I am here to explain what will happen
to your people in the future, for this vision concerns a time yet to
come." [15] While he was speaking to me, I looked down at the ground,
unable to say a word. [16] Then the one who looked like a man touched my lips,
and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing in front
of me, "I am filled with anguish because of the vision I have seen, my
lord, and I am very weak. [17] How can someone like me, your servant, talk to
you, my lord? My strength is gone, and I can hardly breathe." [18] Then
the one who looked like a man touched me again, and I felt my strength returning.
[19] "Don't be afraid," he said, "for you are very precious to
God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!" As he spoke these words to me, I
suddenly felt stronger and said to him, "Please speak to me, my lord, for
you have strengthened me." [20] He replied, "Do you know why I have
come? Soon I must return to fight against the spirit prince of the kingdom of
Persia, and after that the spirit prince of the kingdom of Greece will come.
[21] Meanwhile, I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one helps
me against these spirit princes except Michael, your spirit prince.
Prayer is not preparation for the battle, prayer IS the battle!
Angels are there fighting the spiritual battles for us.
We may not always see angels, but angels always see us.
Angels point us to Jesus.
