Noah's Flood - four views of the
flood
1. Historic global catastrophe
2. Historical local catastrophe
3. Historical global peaceful
flood
4. Myth
He is focusing on the fact that
it was a global catastrophe
Genesis 6:7,13 KJV
[7] And the Lord said, I will
destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and
beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me
that I have made them. [13] And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is
come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and,
behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Genesis 7:1 KJV
[1] And the Lord said unto Noah,
Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before
me in this generation.
The ark was not a little floating
bathtub!
It was one and a half football
fields long and half a football field wide. It was about the size of 500 eighteen-wheel
trucks.
Character of the flood, it was to
destroy the Earth.
Genesis 7:11 KJV
[11] In the six hundredth year of
Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same
day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of
heaven were opened.
The flood lasted a whole year.
The primary source of the water
was probably from fountains of the great deep. Which was most likely some sort
of earthquake.
Depth of the flood;
Genesis 7:19-20 KJV
[19] And the waters prevailed
exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole
heaven, were covered. [20] Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and
the mountains were covered.
The Rainbow Promise
Universal Terms used 60 times
Duration of Flood
Landing of Ark
Command to repopulate the earth.
All of the people of earth came
from the 8 people on the ark.
Billions I'd dead things buried
in rock layers layer down by water all over the earth.
Millions of years is really
Noah's flood.
Early 18th Century views of earth
history
1. Biblical/traditional view
earth is 6000 years.
2. Catastrophist view millions of
years.
3. Uniformitarian view millions
of years, slow gradual change if earth. Started in 1840 at the university
level, it was training that this was the correct view.
Quote from a famous British
geologist Derek Ager. "We have allowed ourselves to be brain washed into
avoiding any interpretation of the past that involves extreme and what might be
termed catastrophic"
One said geography is more made
up in our minds then in nature.
Anti biblical views come with an
old earth.
Biblical views support a young
earth.
"Fossilization is a process
that can take anything from a few hours to millions of years." This was a
quote from an evolutionist, which clearly the second half could not be
observed.
How long does it take to form and
erode rocks? Professor Coleman said the rock was forming faster than anybody
had ever believed possible. With one stone creating itself in 6 months.
How long for erosion? It was
proposed that the The Scablands in Washington were eroded in one to two weeks.
The dogma of geologist is
Unitarianism.
He says most people are looking
through the wrong lenses.
Lack of erosion.
Living ocean bottom ecology
Lack of life disturbance
interface
Ripple marks
Evidence of Transport
No tree roots
No animal fossils
No soils
What about radio metric dating
methods?
5 eruptions in 1949 to 1975 in
New Zealand - those rocks were dated to be about 2.5 million years old.
St Helen rocks were dated to be
340,000 to 2.8 million years old - we saw them made 12 years prior.
Using radioisotope dating is
using assumptions.
Romans 1:21-22 KJV
[21] Because that, when they knew
God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in
their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22] Professing
themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Which authority do you believe?
Infallible word of holy god.
Vs
Fallible opinions of sinful men.
Most of the world does not
believe the literal interpretation of the Bible.
The more you tell a lie often
enough you will believe it.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV
[4] (For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong
holds;) [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought
to the obedience of Christ;

Matthew 24:37-39 KJV
[37] But as the days of Noe were
, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [38] For as in the days that
were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, [39] And knew not until
the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of
man be.
2 Peter 3:3-4 KJV
[3] Knowing this first, that
there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4]
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell
asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
